Our next accommodation was a camp ground on the edge of the crater.
One of the most memorable moment of our trip happened here: I was just saying goodbye to our travel companions who were already heading back to Arusha when I suddenly noticed that an elephant was entering the camp !!!! What on earth! Soon it became clear that the elephants are frequently stopping at the campsite in order to drink from the water tank while on their way to and from the crater. Later in the evening we saw also another elephant stopping to drink.
The sunrise at the camp was stunning.
