Castel Sant'Angelo is Pope's personal residence by the river. The building is very impressive and long lines are usually formed from people waiting to get in.
There is definitely no lack of beautiful churches in Rome, many of them with amazing decorations and golden ceilings. We chose to visit The Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere as we anyway wanted to wonder about the area. This church is also one of the oldest in Rome.
Spanish steps are a long staircase leading from Piazza di Spagna through 138 steps to upper Piazza Trinita dei Monti with a twin tower church. The steps were constructed in early 18th century.Unfortunately when we were there large renovation works were being done blocking the usually magnificent view to the steps.
For the evening we had booked online tickets for a concert at St Paul's within the walls. The concert was a collection of opera songs by some great singers. What a perfect way to relax after a day of sightseeing in a beautiful setting!

Colosseum is of course the most famous land mark of Rome, which also means that's where the longest lines are. To minimize waiting time, get there at the time of opening or during weekdays. If you start from Trevi and continue towards Coliseum you most likely cannot miss Trajan's column & market which are on the wide walkway on the other side of the Piazza Venezia.

We stayed for the weekend at Relais Trevi 95 boutique hotel which I only have good things to say about: it was perfectly located just steps away from the Trevi fountain, the rooms were absolutely beautiful their little terrace where the breakfast was served super nice, and the service excellent!

BOA Mesa Comida Portuegesa is a great casual place to have some authentic Portuguese food near the Senado square. They have plenty of seafood available, but also some meat. Given its hidden few streets away from the Senado square it is also not too touristic and prices are very decent.
The ruins of St Paul are maybe the most famous sight in Macau and located some 500m away from the Senado Square. The large stairs and the front façade are the only remains of this great church today.
The route towards St. Paul's goes through small alleys which are always packed with tourists. On a rainy day moving might get tough given that everyone is holding an umbrella.Along the alleys are plenty of shops selling the local delicacies e.g. air dried meat and Portuguese egg tarts.
Just few hundred meters from Senado Square towards the ruins of St' Paul's (the direction which most tourists are heading from the Senado Square) is the small church of St. Dominic's.
