Dragon’s back (also know HK trail section 8) is without a doubt the most famous and known of all the hikes in Hong Kong. And for a reason: it offers amazing views to both sides of the trail. It has also been selected the best city hike in Asia. This is also why I rarely go hiking there: its incredibly popular with locals and tourists alike especially during weekends.
Last time I did the hike I chose to do it at sunset on a weekday which meant the trail was mostly empty and we got to enjoy the views in piece. If you choose to do the same, remember to bring your headlight as it does get really dark really fast.
Normally Dragon’s back ends at the Big Wave Bay beach where you can cool off after your hike before taking either minibus or taxi back to town.
