World of Birds -sanctuary for birds, reptiles, monkeys, tortoise and many more is located on the sothern side of the Table Mountain, and it’s also one stop for the Cape Town sightseeing bus (kind of a hop-on hop-off bus which is excellent for getting a holistic understanding of the city and learning about its history from the narratives).
The sanctuary is home for a huge number of especially birds that have been rescued and cannot be released to nature, many of them having been pets but maltreated or abandoned, and some are also wild birds with e.g. broken wings etc.
While it was nothing fancy and you can see they are in desperate need of more money through more visitors or donations, there’s plenty to see and especially for kids a place worth visiting.
