For our Easter holiday we had reserved 5 days to spend in Langkawi to enjoy its amazing beaches and warm weather. This time we were 2 adults and a 12-year old, and finding a place that would both be affordable and fulfill everyone’s criteria was definitely not an easy task. Normally, I’d always prefer small rustic & unique places to stay, but this time having a pool and beach were absolute requirements, so it was clear from the beginning we should book a resort. And Berjaya Langkawi Resort proved to be a very good value choice with reasonable prices compared to many very expensive resorts in Lankawi.
Even though the Berjaya Langkawi resort is huge, it also offers a lot of privacy as accommodation is in private chalets. We were staying at the more affordable rain forest chalets in the middle of the forest, but for an extra fee you could also book a chalet on top of water.
In terms of the chalet itself, I really liked the bathroom which had plenty of space and nice simplistic decor with wooden details. The room itself was very nice as well, but maybe for my taste would have preferred slightly lighter & fresher colors and more modern style of furniture. I also really enjoyed sitting outside on the private balcony in the middle of the forest.
If you enjoy spending time at the pool, then you’ve come to the right place! The resort has a huge pool with beautiful views. It also includes a pool bar with an happy hour 🙂 So perfect place for relaxing on the sun loungers.
The best part of the resort was definitely the private beach. Long stretch of beautiful white sand with mountain back drop – could you ask for more? The hotel also had plenty of lounge chairs on the beach, along with a beach bar serving drinks and cocktails.
Oh – and let’s not forget the wildlife! The one thing you will definitely see are monkeys: both on the beach and in the forest. So make sure to keep the doors to your chalet locked. We were also lucky enough to spot a monitor lizard actually twice next to our chalet – they are so intriguing creatures but have a really nasty bite and strong tail so keep your distance!
I have to say I was also positively surprised by some of the five restaurants they had at the resort. In terms of views & atmosphere, it’s hard to beat the Pahn Thai restaurant on the water at sunset. Just make sure to book a table few days in advance since it’s really popular!
The Beach Brasserie which served both Indian and Western cuisines was another one of my favourites, and we loved our table by the water.
There’s one more thing to note about Berjaya Langkawi: the breakfast! There was so much to choose from that you simply ended up eating way more than you should. I especially loved the fresh fruits, the pancakes and the noddles whereas others in our group enjoyed the English style breakfast with beans and omelettes.

Great review and some great photos! I stayed here in 2017 in one of the overwater bungalows, and I’ve got to say that I wasn’t that impressed. For what I paid, I felt as though the exteriors were very dirty and rundown. If you’re the type of person that loves to lounge by the pool, as you said, or stay in a resort for your whole holiday then it was lovely! It was a cool experience but I feel as though it was a bit too far out of the rest of town and not a lot to do around there either other than the cable car.

Thanks so much for sharing your insights Kirstin, I totally agree that for someone spending longer time in Langkawi and wanting to be more adventurous, this resort might not be the right choice. Although in that case would anyway always recommend renting a scooter or a car to explore so in the end it doesn’t matter where you’re bases. The resort is definitely not perfect and some things could be upgraded, but on the other hand if you want a large pool and stunning beach and don’t have a fortune to spend then I thought it was a great choice. Normally I would select a more rustic place with more unique character, but this time the pool and beach were a must.
